ΙΑΣΩΝ ΔΕΠΟ ΥΝΤΗΣ – IASON DEPOUNTIS

“BORN IN THE IONIAN SEA” – AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

Iason Depountis was born in the Ionian Sea, and his ancestry can be traced to the island of Mykonos. He went to primary school, high school, and the Prosalentis School of Art in Corfu. He attended classes in Constitutional Law, Political Economy, Pedagogy, and Sociology in Athens as well as classes in Applied Psychology in Athens and Paris, and in New Mathematics in Switzerland. Today, he is committed solely to writing (poetry, prose, essays), and he is constantly engaged in translations in Zurich, where he lives. He collaborates on a variety of publications as well as on television and radio broadcasts. He took part in conferences in Europe and Africa. Some of his poetic pieces are translated into foreign languages.  “X. Α. Donnet”, “Sea 2, Seabed”, “The Sleep of the Squirrels”, “Literature and Psychology” (a study) are representative books of his prose. Iason Depountis was a member of the group of young writers, who in 1947 published the journal Themelio, the only journal about literature connected to the resistance in Greece at that time. Furthermore, he was also one of the editors of Prosperos, a journal of discourse and art in Corfu. He also collaborates with the publisher Mandagoras.
